What is the Model UN?

Model United Nations is a world-wide program that involves thousands of students each year. In MUN, students have the chance to run the world. They play the part of world leaders. During weekend-long conferences, young men and women from many schools discuss solutions to real world problems.

MUN has often been called "a skit without a script." During the conferences, students debate topics ranging from global climate change to the use of child soldiers. In these debates, however, a student does not voice his or her personal opinion. Instead, each student is assigned one country, and the student represents the opinions of that country's government. The big challenge in Model United Nations is to create realistic solutions to world problems. Being part of the Model United Nations is both challenging and fun!
